Micropower, improving the organization of product data and decreasing the time needed to search for information
Micropower is an independent manufacturer of battery chargers and systems for industrial use. Ever since day one, innovation and curiosity about new technology drove them towards being the market leader in northern Europe for battery chargers in forklift truck applications.

“10 years ago it was possible to have everything in our minds, but today, it is impossible, so we had to have it in some kind of database, one database.” said Tomas Sandstedt, Product Management and Application Manager at Micropower.
Seen from a historical point, all product data was spread out in a lot of different databases and files were saved in libraries on different servers, which led to a highly time-consuming process of data extraction as well as inevitable mistakes regarding the latest versions of files. There was an inefficient tracking process of the latest modifications of documents.
High quality is fundamental and deeply imbedded ingredient of Micropower’s business culture. Their main emphasis falls on delivering on time products with satisfactory quality in corresponding to all legal requirements.
In order to ensure meeting customers’ requirements at the highest level and continuously improving their design and work processes, Micropower had to optimize their data management and enhance efficiency and quality search for information.
There was a need to find a way to organize product data and to shorten the time needed to search for information in different databases.
